Job Description

Summary of Responsibility: Responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing and directing the activity programs to ensure that the spiritual development, emotional, recreational and social needs of the residents are maintained on an individual basis. Duties:

  • Set up and carry out activities as planned by Activity Director
  • Clean Activity room between activities
  • Go to apartments to invite residents to activities and assist in getting them back to apartments
  • Attend Activity Planning meeting with Activity Director
  • Assist volunteers with activities
  • Assist with cleaning the bus
  • Transportation as needed
  • Observe residents for changes in condition and report to Activity Director
  • Continue all activities in the Absence of the Director
  • Help with putting up and taking down of holiday themes
  • Notify care staff of nursing needs
  • Attend all staff meetings
Education and Experience:
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience in working with elderly desired.
  • Should have creative aptitude for training in arts, crafts and games.

Must be able to lift and transfer residents, using proper body mechanics as needed. Subject to falls, burns from equipment, infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc., throughout the workday.   • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies and the general public.
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
A willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
