Contract Duration: 5-months
Worksite Location: Minneapolis, MN
Compensation: $33.00 - $41.00 per hour
What you’ll do as the Industrial Designer: - Lead the ideation, design, and creation of experiential assets, scenic elements, photography sets, and retail fixtures
- Act as the subject matter expert in design principles, fabrication techniques, material selection, and production planning
- Develop and document fabrication plans using both digital and traditional methods, ensuring designs meet quality, functional, and aesthetic standards
- Create 2D/3D visualizations using CAD software and hand sketching to communicate concepts and finalize designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide on-site support when needed, including outside regular working hours
- Adapt designs in response to evolving requirements and troubleshoot issues throughout the design and fabrication process
- Engage in all stages of the creative process—from concept to execution—with hands-on involvement in prototyping and production
What you’ll bring to the Industrial Designer role: - Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, aesthetic design, or a technical/engineering discipline with equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in design roles focused on digital and traditional fabrication
- Proficiency in CAD and CAM software; Autodesk Fusion 360 is a plus
- Skilled in digital fabrication tools such as CNC machines, laser cutters, and plasma cutters
- Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, as well as building and fabrication techniques
- Familiarity with programmable electronics (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.) and integration with AV or mechanical components
- Experience in prototyping environments, especially with unique or one-of-a-kind builds
- Background in industries such as product design, theater, or art
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability under tight timelines, and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel and support design work on site
- Knowledge of ADA and building codes is a plus
- Experience facilitating ideation or design workshops and involvement with professional design organizations is preferred
